Age 87, of Montour Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility.Harland was born in Canisteo, NY on May 5, 1931, the son of the late Miles and Bernice (Potter) Stephens.Education, travel and Cornell were Jane’s passions.Jane is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Carl A. Jane and Carl built a home, lovingly blended their families, worked at their farm on Coddington Road and traveled the country and world together.Jane is also survived by two children, George Mc Gonigal (Cathy Emilian) of Ithaca, NY, and Peggy Richardson (Tom) of Watkins Glen, NY, and stepdaughter Penny Rose (Mike) of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren Jessica Franzese (Jim Stewart), Lorna Mc Gonigal (Tyler Schott), Katie Richardson, and Sam Richardson; great grandchildren Kirsten Franzese, Sean Franzese and Zora Jane Schott Mc Gonigal; sister-in-law Carol Harding (Bill); brother-in-law Bill Poyer; nieces Cathe, Maggie, Lisa, Susan, and Laura; and nephews Paul, Bill, Larry, Jim and their families.
Raised with her sister Nancy on the Wigsten family dairy farm in Horseheads, NY, Jane graduated from Horseheads High School in 1946. Jane began her career with Cornell Cooperative Extension in 1950 in Wayne County.

She was born in Montour Falls, NY on February 16, 1935, the daughter of the late Starr and Claribel (Finch) Martin, and graduated from Watkins Glen High School.
Jane was a founder of NY Farm Net, and former chair of the NY Farm Net steering committee.
She was honored with the 1997 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service, the 2009 NYS Friends of Extension Award and the 2014 Cornell University Outstanding Alumni Award. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a choir member, elder and Presbytery committee on ministry member.
